What is Roxicodone
Roxicodone is known as a narcotic. This medication is to cure moderate to severe pain. It is to manage pain when other treatments like non-opioid pain medicines control it, or you cannot tolerate the alternate treatment.
Roxicodone is supplied as an immediate-release tablet and is available in 5mg, 15mg, and 30mg strength.
Misuse of Roxicodone may lead to an overdose or maybe the cause of death.
Roxicodone creates problems in breathing. When it happens, immediately consult a doctor.
Roxicodone contains oxycodone, a schedule II controlled substance. Roxicodone exposes the users to the risk of addiction, abuse, and misuse. The risk of addiction in any individual is unknown, and it can occur in any patients appropriately prescribed Roxicodone.

What to know before taking Roxicodone
Avoid eating grapefruits or the juice of the grapefruits during the use of this medicine until your doctor or pharmacist allows it safely because grapefruits can increase the chances of side effects.
Before taking this medicine, confirm that you don’t have these :
- Head injuries
- Problem in urination
- Liver and kidney problems or diseases
- Gallbladder problem or Pancreas.
Ask your doctor about using this Roxicodone safely with other drugs or not.
These drugs make you unsteady. Do not drive any machinery or anything that needs an active mind or alertness. Avoid alcoholic beverages.
Don’t give this medicine to breastfeeding mothers because when the baby feeds her milk, it causes harmful effects.
If you are pregnant or going to be pregnant, please ignore this medication.
How to take Roxicodone
- The quantity or dosage of the medicine on your medical conditions to take the advice from your doctor
- Take this only by a mouth as guidance under your doctor.
- If you take the concentrated solution, your doctor may tell you to mix the medication needed in a small amount of juice or semi-liquid food like pudding.
- Pain medications work best if they are used when the first signs of pain occur.
- Swallow this medication with a whole quantity of water.
Each tablet contains 5mg,15mg,30mg of Roxicodone hydrochloride USP.
It contains white, odorless crystalline powder derived from the opium alkaloid, thebaine. It dissolves with water (1 g- 7ml) and is considered slightly soluble in alcohol.
The 5mg of Roxicodone tablet contains inactive ingredients, and the 15mg and 30 mg of the tablet contain the following microcrystalline cellulose .sodium scratch acid, D & C Yellow.
Roxicodone dosage moderate to severe pain in the patients who require treatment with oral opioid analgesia. The dose is particularly adjusted according to the severity of pain patients’ response and patients if the analgesia is not the inadequate amount or intolerance causes or increase in dosage may be required.
To control the patients, chronic pain Roxicodone should be administered regularly every 4-6 hours at the lowest quantity level to achieve adequate analgesia.
If anyone gets an overdose and has severe symptoms like breathing, give them anilox if they are available.
Symptoms for overdose are slow breathing or shallow breathing, slow heartbeat, coma.
Take advice from your doctor or the pharmacist if you have the naloxone available to treat opioid overdose. Aware of your family members or household to the symptome and teach them how to treat it.
Suppose you are taking this medication on a regular schedule and miss a dose. Take the next dose at the usual time. Don’t double the amount to catch up.
What to avoid while using Roxicodone
The patients should avoid liquid products which contain sugar, alcohol, or aspartame if they have a disease like diabetes, liver disease, or any condition that requires you to limit substances in your diet. Ask your doctor about using these products safely.
During pregnancy, that use when required. It can harm a baby in the womb. Discuss risks and benefits with your doctor
It can be harmful to the born baby to buy drugs passed into the breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Tell your doctor if your baby develops unusual sleepiness, difficulties in feeding, or breathing problems. Consult the doctor before breastfeeding the baby.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially diseases related to brain disorders, difficulty in breathing, kidney diseases, liver disease, mental mood disorders, or personal or family history of the substances, stomach problems, diseases of the Pancreas, gallbladder.
Roxicodone Side Effect
There are various side effects there are the following like
Nausea, vomiting, constipation, dizziness, or lightheadedness. Some of the side effects can decrease after you have been using this medicine for a while.
To prevent constipation eat dietary fiber, drink enough water, and exercise. You may need to take a laxative that is right for you.
What drugs can interact with Roxicodone
- Don’t use opioid pain medicine or prescription cough medicine.
- Sedative Medications like alprazolam or Xanax, clonazepam or Klonopin, diazepam or Valium, lorazepam or Ativan, temazepam or Restoril and others;
- Sleeping pills
- Muscle relaxants or tranquilizers;
- Medicine for headache treatments etc.
